iPhone 14 can reclaim the throne of photography for Apple

In general, when we talk about the photographic performance of the iPhone, we say so Apple’s smartphone is great in every way, but not the best of anything. (In the field of video, it is undeniably the best in the latest iPhone market.)

After all, the latest iPhone, especially the Pro (or Pro Max) version, always offers a very interesting photographic performance! However, in 2021 and 2022, compared to the heavyweights in the Android world, it is clear that Apple has lost some of its magic.

Can the iPhone 14 get it back? It is possible! But the evolution must be really good, the photographic performance of such devices Vivo’s X80 Pro. The smartphone will most likely jump up the table DxOMark.

iPhone 14 can reclaim the throne of photography for Apple! However there are some serious difficulties ahead.

Therefore, it is true that the iPhone 13 series is already almost a year old, and for that reason, everything has its focus on the iPhone 14 to be announced in September. But, since the whole first wave of ‘premium’ handsets has already been welcomed into the Android world, it is easy to say that it has overtaken Apple, and by no means.

The iPhone 13 lags far behind the Android heavyweights, often more important to the end user, which is photographic performance.

Vivo X80 Pro

After all, for a long time, if you wanted to take natural but detailed photos, the iPhone was almost always the best choice on the market. However, this is no longer the case. Especially when comparing the latest iPhone with the most interesting offers in the Android world like S22 Ultra, Pixel 6 Pro and the latest Vivo X80 Pro.

If you zoom in on photos from the iPhone, you will notice that unfortunately, the smartphone is trying to replace the resolution (12MP) error with image processing that does not always work properly. On the other side of the barricade, however, are the S22 Ultra with 108MP main sensor and the Pixel 6 Pro and X80 Pro with 50MP sensors. Yes, it is true that the final image on these Android devices will continue to be a 12MP photo. But the post processing of these smartphones is more powerful because it has more information ready to use, almost always with more detailed images and more reliable colors.

In most cases, the iPhone 13 has problems with colors and the brightness with which it can hold or not. This is, in my opinion, not an accident. This is Apple’s choice! The North American giant wants to make up for the lack of clarity with more ‘fake’ but more ‘beautiful’ photos for social networks. Huawei has made many years of its presence in the Android world.

In addition to all this, we must also point out that there is a huge disadvantage in the field of optical zoom in all iPhones. After all, while high-end Android devices can already offer very interesting image captures up to 10x, the iPhone is still low, especially on non-pro models.

But … the new iPhone 14 can solve this problem for the most part!

With the implementation of 48MP sensors, Apple has the potential to greatly enhance its image capture experience on the new iPhone 14, at least on the Pro models. A larger sensor can capture more detail and clearly more light. Making its own in the Android world opens the door to the pixel-binning technology we already see.

However, greater light means bigger improvements in color reliability and HDR field. Especially in environments with low ambient light.

But, of course, implementing a new sensor will not solve all the problems. Apple’s image processing algorithm should be able to handle the increase in resolution. That is, in order to provide superior image capture, you need to know how to deal with additional information.

Also, what do you think about all of this? With high expectations for the iPhone 14? Do not forget that prices will go up, as well!
